Frontwoman of Japanese Breakfast, Michelle Zauner has been making waves in the music world with her 2021 album, Jubilee and published memoir Crying in H Mart. She caught the attention of crowds at ACL Fest, SXSW, and recently her hero.

Karen O is the frontwoman of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and recently released their return album, Cool It Down. After meeting Karen O for the first time in a Rolling Stone interview and opening for Yeah Yeah Yeahs in their release shows, Michelle shared a heartfelt letter to her long time idol.

Both women were born in South Korea and recount a similar upbringing and shared chemistry. Together they continue to inspire more women and artists with their beautifully-crafted work and performances.

Meeting your heroes can be a daunting altercation, but Michelle’s letter truly touched the hearts of the fans.
