Mosser Show Notes: Black Fret Ball Saturday, and Remembering John Lennon, Chuck Yeager, and Fred Akers

The normally exquisitely fancy Black Fret Ball will be a little dialed back this year, happening virtually – though there’s nothing stopping you from getting a shower and changing out of those sweatpants. It happens Saturday, is FREE to watch, and will feature and mark nice grants of $8,000 to a list of 20 of Austin’s most promising musicians and acts, likely right when it’s needed most: Moving Panoramas, Sir Woman, Nobody’s Girl, Love & Chaos and Darkbird are among my personal faves on the list.

Two prominent figures of the “Greatest Generation” have passed. First, legendary ace pilot Chuck Yeager.

And second, Texas Longhorns Head Coach Fred Akers.

Finally, today marks the 40th anniversary of the horrific assassination of John Lennon. This is from NBC’s Today Show the following morning.
