Mosser Show Notes Mon 1/11: Goodbye Austin Pizza Garden, Hello Curra’s, Happy Birthday Robert Earl

Typing to you this morning from Fort Collins, Colorado! A mix of business and pleasure up here this week means I missed the historic Austin snowstorm of 2021, but I’ve got plenty here to enjoy, albeit a bit less remarkably. 9 degrees out there right now! I’ll be doing the show from here and points between all week.

Bummed to hear that the old Austin Pizza Garden in Oak Hill is going away after this week. One of my brothers worked there years ago and swears the building is haunted. You’ve got a few days left to say goodbye and buy a pie. Here’s hoping they manage to return in the pandemic hereafter.

Better news on Duval Road, as the space formerly occupied by Mother’s (who we also hope manage a comeback) is soon to be occupied by a second location of Curra’s Mexican Grill, who make my favorite al pastor tacos in town and a damn fine avocado margarita. I’ve noticed some online consternation over the new Curra’s elbowing in on nearby Julio’s – let’s be sure and support them both.

And – today is the 65th birthday of Texas treasure Robert Earl Keen! Here’s hoping we all get to celebrate together next month.
