There’s only one more day until the city wakes up to the 8th annual celebration of one of our most beloved artists, Shakey Graves! Named in his honor by the City of Austin in 2012, February 9th, otherwise known as Shakey Graves Day, is dedicated to celebrating his work and giving back to the community from which he got his start. Last year, we were thrilled to have him perform at Austin City Limits Radio’s Dell Music Lounge in June and Starry Night in December. This year he’s kicking off his celebration with a performance at Cactus Cafe tonight at 8! He’ll also be performing at the Cactus Cafe on Saturday, Feb. 9th and at The Parish on Sunday, Feb. 10th (tickets sold on a lottery basis here).
Plus, his entire music catalogue will be available for three days on his bandcamp for you to choose your own price, starting Feb 9th at noon! Half of all proceeds will be donated to Kids in Need of Defense. If you can’t make it to one of his shows this weekend, don’t worry! He’ll be making a stop in Texas this summer when he goes on tour with Lord Huron. Check out the tour schedule here.
