Expect new music this year from Lucy Dacus. The indie-rock singer-songwriter is releasing a physical EP titled 2019.
But these songs take on a different concept than what you’re used to seeing other artists release. Dacus’ EP will comprise of 12 holiday-themed songs. Each song, which includes originals and covers, is connected to a different holiday.
The songs will be released according to the holiday. And you might be wondering which holidays the singer chose. Well, Valentine’s Day came first. Just yesterday the artist released a cover in English and French of Édith Piaf’s song “La Vie En Rose.”

You can look forward to hearing new songs from Dacus on Mother’s Day, Independence Day, Springsteen’s birthday, Halloween, Christmas, and New Year’s.
The artist’s inspiration behind this project came from finding her own meaning on holiday celebrations. “I’ve collected some songs from trying to answer that question. These songs are self-contained, not indicative of a new direction, just a willingness to do something different and sometimes even out of character,” said the singer-songwriter.
Lucy Dacus is hitting the road this year, and will be in Austin on February 9th to perform at Barracuda. Tickets are on sale.
