After a three year period of touring and performing songs from their previous releases, the English quartet known as Mumford and Sons broadcasted the first single from their upcoming album. Track “Guiding Light” was paired with a lyric video to start off the senior album preparation for the band. Although “Guiding Light” follows the familiar sound of the band’s folk rock mix, the smooth vocals of singer Marcus Mumford behind visuals of live audiences swaying creates the perfect picture for a love ballad.
Speaking with Annie Mac of BBC’s Radio 1 on Sept. 20, Mumford and Sons premiered the single while discussing future plans, including an album and 60 date tour. The group’s album, Delta, is set to be released on Nov. 16 with tour information to follow. While on the Radio 1 show, Mumford explained “On this record it’s felt like there have been no boundaries creatively.”
With a new creative mindset and sounds to follow, Mumford and Sons provides a glance into their future success with the release of “Guiding Light”.
