Interesting that today, the day after MLK Day, is “Confederate Heroes Day” in Texas – a partial holiday that allows state employees to take off work to “celebrate”. That timing seem curious to you? Anybody else sick and tired of this crap?
If you’re like me, you’re just fat enough to qualify for a Phase 1B COVID vaccination – but you’re also having zero luck getting an appointment. Found out today that, if you don’t mind a drive, you can try to get scheduled for a shot at ALL of the dozens of mass vaccination centers across the state, which for the moment are hogging all the new shipments and are thus the only game in town. Good luck and STAY SAFE in the meantime.
Beer aficionados will note the notability of Yuengling Brewing’s products finally making their way to Texas. Found out yesterday that one beer-swilling friend of mine who used to be a huge Yuengling fan, isn’t anymore – so I looked around to figure out why.
And TWO of our favorite women in music mark birthdays today. First, Janis Joplin – who totally belongs on the Mount Rushmore of Austin Music and is also a member of the notorious “27 Club“, would have been 78 today had she not died in the fall of 1970.
And Dolly Parton – what’s not to love about Dolly? Happy 75th to the reigning Queen of Country Music.
