Acclaimed Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts has died at the age of 80 in London. Bernard Doherty, his London publicist, confirmed the news.
“He passed away peacefully in a London hospital earlier today surrounded by his family. Charlie was a cherished husband, father and grandfather and also as a member of The Rolling Stones one of the greatest drummers of his generation,” said Doherty.
Watts was a founding member of The Rolling Stones. Watts recently underwent a medical procedure that remained unidentified and was not going to partake in the English rock band’s upcoming tour.
