As the temperature lowers, leaves change color, and pumpkin flavored everything is placed on the table, it is obvious that fall is finally here! Helping you enjoy the cool weather and festivities happening around the city, here are a few ideas on how to spend your weekend.

 

Friday, November 9

Creek Show
6:00 PM – 10:00 PM | Waller Creek Downtown 9th/11th St

The Waller Creek parks project is hosting their 5th annual Creek Show that is open to the public for free. The nine night long show begins on Nov. 9 and runs until Nov. 17 with various light installations and live music to enjoy at the historic Symphony Square amphitheater. This family-friendly event is a perfect way to relax in the parks of Austin while learning more about local conservancy projects.

 

Frida Friday
6:00 PM – 10:00 PM | Tamale House East

Throughout the month of November, #FridaFridayATX events will be taking place around Austin. The purpose of this event is to allow women and people from all different backgrounds to come together and form a community. Market vendors supporting alternative economies and creative expressions from minority groups are a highlight of this event so visit a #FridayFriday event o support some of Austin’s local artists and creators!

 

Hippo Campus Concert
8:00 PM | Stubb’s

With a new album, Bambi, released less than just two months ago, the indie-rock band Hippo Campus is traveling all over to perform their newest songs. Touring from California to Australia, the band is making a pit stop with supporting artist, The Districts, at Austin’s famous Stubb’s Amphitheater. East Austin Studio Tour
11:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Big Medium, a non-profit organization that focuses on supporting artists in Austin and across Texas, is hosting their annual self-guided art tour across the city known as East Austin Studio Tour (EAST). EAST is a free event spanning across the second and third weekends in November. Featured at the event is Austin-native artist Caitlin G. McCollom who will be selling small prints and paintings to those who stop by her local studio. The Femme Abstract is an exhibition participating at EAST that features over 50 female artists with various mediums of art. Visit local studios throughout the weekend to support Austin artists and the city’s diverse art scene!

 

The Wandering Vegan
11:00 AM – 4:00 PM | The Vegan Nom

Celebrating all things natural and plant-based the first vegan taco truck in Texas, The Vegan Nom, is putting on a vegan festival with food trucks, local vendors, and more. From organic treats to cruelty-free skin care products, The Wandering Vegan is free and open to the public for anyone looking for a healthy, local food fest.

 

Library Escape Room
10:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Austin Public Library University Hills

With the time ticking and clues getting more difficult to decipher, “escape the room” challenges are always complex, but thrilling. This Saturday, grab a group of sly friends and see if you can figure out how to unlock the door and escape the room at the Austin Public Library. This free event is fun for friends, family members, or a potluck group that can be made at check in! Red, White, and Blues 512
4:00 PM | Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater

As a local fundraiser event for homeless veterans in Austin, the annual Red, White, and Blues 512 festival is taking place again this year at Stubb’s Amphitheater. Since the festival’s debut in 2016, Red, White, and Blues 512 has continued to assist veterans living on the streets by providing housing, therapy, and more. Artists playing at the festival this year include The Nightowls, Black Pumas, Shinyribs, and Samantha Fish. Tickets for the event can be purchased here.

 

Staying Balanced during the Holidaze
11:00 AM – 1:00 PM | Space 24 Twenty

A free yoga session and focus workshop is taking place at Space 24 Twenty on Guadalupe St. to remind us how to stay focused on self-love during the busy upcoming holiday season. Instructor and host Dr. Danielle Richardson will lead the group in a yoga flow and an inner-focus session. Complimentary drinks will be available so all you need to bring is a yoga mat! The Bloody Mary Festival
10:30 AM – 6:00 PM | Fair Market

Claiming itself as the Sunday Funday Brunch party of the year, the finest restaurants of Austin are coming together to offer their best Bloody Mary cocktail. Supporting the Boneshaker project which encourages kids to feel empowered through physical health, the festival will have food trucks, live music, vendors, and more at the Fair Market.
