Singer-songwriter Adam Melchor stopped by the Austin City Limits Radio studio before his show at Emo’s on Wednesday, where he opened up for British artist Dodie.
Melchor performed a couple of songs live on-air and chatted with Andy Langer about visiting Austin during SXSW. With performances one after the other, the New Jersey native found it convenient to commute from gig to gig with the help of those controversial scooters. “The locals might hate this but it was very easy to bring my body around with my guitar on one of those scooters … I know it’s not the best system of transportation but at SXSW it was very very helpful,” said Melchor.
His trip to the Live Music Capital of the World during SXSW wouldn’t have been complete without trying some barbecue. The artist can check off eating Franklin Barbecue while performing on-stage in Austin, talk about life goals. Melchor cracked a grin and said, “I think I was playing at the Empire Garage and my manager was nice enough to bring me barbecue on stage, so I was just playing at the Garage with the barbecue on-stage and I was like ‘there’s nothing more Austin about this than right now’ and I felt very at home.”
Melchor will be returning to Austin next month with Mt. Joy. Tickets are now up for grabs for the show at Scoot Inn. You can watch his full interview and performance of “Real Estate” and “Joyride” below.
