Filmmakers who initially planned on premiering their features during SXSW took a complete turn when local officials canceled the anticipated festival one week before it was set to begin due to coronavirus concerns.
With SXSW no longer taking place, Amazon offered a platform to filmmakers; an opportunity to showcase their work virtually.
Now, 39 films will make their debut on Amazon Prime Video. Over the next ten days, beginning April 26 through May 9, Amazon will allow anyone in the United States to watch the SXSW 2020 Film Festival Collection on Prime Video. An Amazon Prime membership is not required, all you need is a free Amazon account.
All filmmakers partaking in the online festival will earn a screening fee.
