Pencil in Nilüfer Yanya for your weekend one of ACL Fest because she’s unquestionably worth the watch.
Playing guitar at 12-years-old and writing songs since she was a kid, the artist never fully saw herself pursuing music. “I knew I wanted to sing, but the idea of actually having to do it was really horrifying.” That all changed with the help of her music teacher, who pushed Yanya to share her music with the world.
From SoundCloud, to performing at sold-out music festivals, you could say Yanya is on the right track. The singer-songwriter released her debut album Miss Universe earlier this year. She has toured with artists like Interpol, The xx and Mitski. Just recently she performed a Tiny Desk concert over at NPR and sang a few songs off the new record. Check it out below.
