Friday, July 16th

 

Lady Bird: Beyond the Wildflowers | LBJ Presidential Library | 10 AM – 4 PM

The LBJ Presidential Library reopened its doors to the public this week. In celebration of the reopening, the museum has curated a special exhibit of the life and work of Lady Bird Johnson. The exhibit, featuring letters, photographs, artifacts and clothing, will only be available for touring for a limited time. Tickets for a two hour block must be purchased in advance. 

 

Safe & Sounds Concert | Hotel Granduca Austin | 7 PM

The Safe & Sounds Concert series returns on Friday with a performance from Carolyn Wonderland and Brodie Lane! The show will be hosted at the Hotel Granduca, with views available from hotel rooms. Tables of four are also available closer to the stage. Tickets are available with Hotel Granduca, but you can enter for a chance to win a hotel room here!

 

Little Shop of Horrors

Zilker Theatre Productions

 

Zilker Summer Musical | Hill Country Galleria | 8:15 PM

Make your weekend musical with Zilker Theater Productions’ rendition of “Little Shop of Horrors”! For the first time in 60 years, the annual Zilker Summer Musical will be held at a venue other than the Zilker Summer Theater. Zilker Theater Productions worked in partnership with Hill Country Galleria to ensure a safe in-person performance would be possible this year. Tickets to the show are free, but reservations are recommended!

 

Saturday, July 17th

 

City-Wide Vintage Sale | Palmer Events Center | 10 AM – 5 PM

Looking to be a part of Austin’s vintage shopping scene? Head over to the City-Wide Vintage Sale at the Palmer Events Center! An Austin staple since 1977, the sale includes vintage clothing, jewelry, art, antiques and more! Admission for adults is $7 at the door.

 

Sculpture Garden Storytime | UMLAUF Sculpture Garden | 12 PM

The UMLAUF Sculpture Garden has introduced a new family program to introduce younger audiences to the wonders of the garden! The experience includes a storybook reading and a tour through the garden. The storytime is geared towards kids 7 years and younger.

Enter The Ember | Pioneer Farms | 7:30 PM – 10:30 PM

Austin’s finest fire collective is putting on a full-length fire production that will transport you to a mythical world of fantasy and fire! Enter the Ember features storytelling, choreography, fire props and more! An assortment of artisan vendors and food trucks will be in attendance as well. Tickets are still available for purchase.

 

Sunday, July 18th

 

Free Family Sundays | Mexic-Arte Museum | 2 PM

Interested in exploring over 4000 works of Mexican, Latin and Latin American art? Sundays at the Mexic-Arte Museum are Free Family Sundays. Bring the whole family out to explore the museum and receive a free tour at 2pm or 3pm. Tours in Spanish are also available.

Connect 4 Tournament | Barton Springs Saloon | 2 PM – 4 PM

Are you the reigning Connect 4 champion of your household? Or are you the worst Connect 4 player to ever walk the earth? All levels of skill are welcome to participate in the 3rd Connect 4 Tournament at Barton Springs Saloon. Entry is free, and the winner and runner-up will win saloon bucks!

 

Austin Symphony Orchestra’s Concerts in the Park | Long Center Terrace | 7:30 PM

Bring out the blankets and head over to the Long Center for some symphonic fun! Join the Austin Symphony Orchestra for their Concerts in the Park at the Long Center Terrace for a free performance. This weekend’s performers are the String Quartet. Make sure to get there early to get the perfect spot on the grass!
