Americans love dogs, specifically Austin, TX.
In fact, recent surveys show that more than half of all U.S. households have dogs and dog owners spend roughly $1,200 a year on their pets. Some parts of the country, however, are better places for dog owners and their four-legged friends to call home.
With International Dog Day approaching on August 26, SmartAsset analyzed data for 100 of the largest cities to find the most dog-friendly cities in America. They considered factors such as access to dog parks, veterinary offices and walkable streets, among others.
