“The sidewalks are empty. The bars and cafes, too.” These are the opening words of Ben Gibbard’s new tune, “Life in Quarantine.”
The Death Cab for Cutie frontman released the song via livestream last week on The Stranger, Seattle’s alt-weekly newspaper. Performing it on an acoustic guitar and dedicating it to his home state, proceeds of the song will benefit Aurora Commons, a Seattle non-profit organization that offers support services to the homeless.
A Message to the City from Ben Gibbard
Gibbard was formerly doing livestreams every single day since March 17th on YouTube and Facebook. Now, you can catch him every Thursday on his livestream series, titled Ben Gibbard: Live From Home, at 6pm PT. Gibbard sings songs of Death Cab for Cutie, The Postal Service, and performs some of his solo work.
