Ed Sheeran is set to read the story I Talk Like A River, written by Jordan Scott and Sydney Smith on CBeebies Bedtime Stories, November 5 at 6:50 pm BST.
I Talk Like A River, shares the story of a boy whose father helps him by explaining that the flow of his words is like a river.
Sheeran is taking his reading to heart as he closely resonates with the tale shared and is hoping the message of the book will work to help and encourage some of the listeners.
Sheeran told BBC News he was “delighted” to read the story, “I hope the story helps inspire and support other children who stutter.”
Sheeran added: “Growing up, I had a stutter like the boy in I Talk Like A River, so I’m delighted to be reading this story for CBeebies Bedtime Stories, especially as I’m a new dad myself.”
Opening up about his stuttering as a boy, Sheeran hopes his own story aids in supporting children who may feel discouraged, reminding children to simply embrace their quirks.
“Be yourself. Embrace your quirks. Being weird is a wonderful thing.… I have a […] football team now, that’s pretty cool!”
Sheeran is just the latest in a line of high-profile stars to contribute to the series, which has seen Dave Grohl, Dolly Parton, Sir Elton John, Robbie Williams and Mark Ronson partake in reading stories aloud.
