Vampire Weekend’s frontman, Ezra Koenig, was the musical guest on the latest remote episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday (May 5th.) He set up in his home studio, sat down in front of his piano, and performed solo stripped-down versions of “Flower Moon,” “Stranger,” and “Big Blue,” all from their latest album Father of the Bride.
This past weekend marked the one-year anniversary of Vampire Weekend’s fourth studio album. At the time, it was their first album in six years, following Modern Vampires of the City. The record debuted at number one on the Billboard chart, was up for a handful of Grammy nominations including Album of the Year, and ultimately won Best Alternative Music Album.
In February, Vampire Weekend released three bonus tracks from the Japanese edition of Father of the Bride. The songs include an acoustic version of an early hit, “Houston Dubai,” a 1968 Mickey Newbury cover, “I Don’t Think Much About Her No More,” and “Lord Ullin’s Daughter” which features Jude Law reading 19th-century poetry. The songs are available now on all major streaming platforms.
The band took to Instagram to announce a portion of cancelled tour dates. Full refunds will be processed for North America tour dates. “The outcome of shows beyond August 15 is unclear at this time. We are monitoring the global situation closely and our team is in touch with local authorities. We will keep you posted as we learn more.” See the full list of cancelled dates on their Instagram post below.
