The Tonight Show host chats with Dave Grohl about drumming and singing simalteously and getting rejected by David Bowie.

Monday nights edition of The Tonight Show, hosted by Jimmy Fallon, featured guests Foo Fighters, promoting their newest album, Medicine at Midnight. After frontman David Grohl spoke with Fallon, the band performed their single “Waiting On A War” which was released earlier this year.

The single plays on anxiety and features deep synths and bass, highlighted by tension that waits until the very end to split. The performance was contrasting to their usual heavy rock sound, and instead offered a simple run though of their new song with a ripping outro done by Taylor Hawkins.

Prior to their set, Grohl chatted with Jimmy Fallon about the new album and the initial delay caused by the pandemic. Grohl gave some insight about his feelings on being a drummer and a lead singer, and also touched on the time that him and Fallon were both invited by former President Obama to the White House for a picnic that Fallon was uncomfortably overdressed for. Grohl also rehashed his story about meeting and emailing with David Bowie, and he and Fallon joked with each other over the instability of video calls.
