Jade Bird dropped a new track titled “Headstart.” The new single was recorded at RCA studios and produced by Dave Cobb, who previously worked with the late John Prine and Grammy winner Brandi Carlile.
“Headstart” follows Jade Bird’s self-titled debut album, which was released in April 2019. The UK artist said she wrote the song after taking a trip to upstate New York. “Being there, I was immediately taken back to the magic and inspiration of creating the first album. It’s quite a light-hearted song, about liking someone who just can’t see the signs, but more than that releasing it feels like a way to give a bit of joy to the end of the year. It feels like community to me, and it makes me want to sing again.”
Bird shared a tutorial on Instagram for the guitar riff of “Headstart.” Stream the track below and watch the tutorial to see the UK artist break it all down.
