John Mayer is back with the reveal of a brand new album, Sob Rock. The album is set to be released on July 16. This will be Mayer’s first album since his seventh studio album, The Search for Everything, back in 2017.
John Mayer found himself with a bright future as a TikTok star earlier this year. Mayer posted videos that ranged from guitar tips to life advice and nonsensical jokes. His breakout on the platform was in the form of a stitched video with a woman eating soup. Mayer matched her energy in a call and response fashion. After finding viral success, he found himself faced with a bombardment of comments from angry Taylor Swift fans. The guitarist has been on a hiatus from the platform since May 2nd.

The musician was recently in talks with producers from Paramount Plus in hopes of hosting an American version of Later… with Jools Holland. The talk show would feature interviews with artists and musicians in a more laid back setting.
Mayer will be touring in Texas in October of this year with Grateful Dead supergroup Dead & Company. The band has stops in Dallas on October 14 and The Woodlands on October 15. Tickets are not currently available.
Mayer’s upcoming album Sob Rock can be pre-saved now.
