CMT (Country Music Television) Awards will be taking over the ACL Moody Center.
That’s right, the coveted Nashville tradition (for over 20 years) is moving to Austin!
Kelsea Ballerini made the surprise announcement last night during the Carrie Underwood show at Austin’s Moody Center. 25x CMT Award-winner Underwood was presented with a champion belt and announced as first performer for the award show. Kelsea Ballerini will return as a third-time host.

President & CEO of Austin CVB, Tom Noonan said they are “beyond thrilled to welcome the CMT Music Awards to Moody Center in 2023.”
“This event will have not only a huge financial impact on Austin and its tourism industry, but it will also showcase two of the top music brands globally, Austin as The Live Music Capital of the World and Country Music Television,” he said.
You can watch the 2023 CMT Awards live on CBS Austin from 8:00-11:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, 2023.
Years of relationship building has gone into this effort between Austin, CMT, CBS, and Paramount. This will surely be a huge moment for Austin and the future of our Live Music Capitol.
