The Chili Peppers Pay Tribute to Nirvana
For their first time ever, Red Hot Chili Peppers cover “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” The band used this cover to close out a benefit concert for the Silverlake Conservatory of Music (10/29).
Recently, Red Hot Chili Peppers headlined Austin’s very own ACL Fest and achieved two No. 1 albums in 2022 due to April’s Unlimited Love and October’s Return of the Dream Canteen. Unfortunately no Nirvana cover at Zilker Park but the band has been leading the way to success for rock bands in the 2020’s.
Check out the fan-captured video along with the bands thoughts on their experience with Nirvana.
A Moment For the Fans
Anthony Kiedis delivers the first verse before letting guitarist John Frusciante take over that beloved chorus.
The Chili Peppers and Nirvana actually toured together in 1991 along with Pearl Jam. An iconic team-up lead to the band talking about their awe for Kurt Cobain and Nirvana’s natural stage presence in an interview with Howard Stern. Absolutely worth the watch especially if you’re feeling left out after missing that incredible ’91 lineup.
