Showing how much influence the cultural icon Anthony Bourdain had on the world, on what would be his 63rd birthday, many musical acts are paying tribute to the late pioneer. A video was shared by the Queens of the Stone Age Instagram account where many acts such as Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes, and The Kills were featured in a video celebrating “Bourdain Day,” where the acts encouraged people to celebrate Bourdain’s legacy by “exploring, experiencing and celebrating.”

“They’re talking about Anthony Bourdain’s Birthday,” stated Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme. Homme was a close friend of Bordain’s and featured on his well known show No Reservations.
Probably the biggest and most personal tribute to Bourdain came from a Twitter post by Homme himself. On a segment of No Reservations, Homme’s is seen playing guitar and singing, with Bourdain, afterwards taking the guitar from him and smashing it against a tree. Though the skit was planned and meant to be humorous, Homme’s daughter Camille was upset by the segment. After finding this out, Bourdain wrote a letter to Homme’s daughter showing a very touching apology. The QOTSA frontman shared this apology on the band’s Twitter page, starting the caption with “Tony, I miss you bad.”
Tony, I miss you bad. Once, Camille was so mad at you. She was defending me. & So were you. Ariane, this was your father. Humbly yours, Joshua pic.twitter.com/sR3mwO5WBI

In Homme’s professional life, the frontman has also been working on the follow up to the 2017 Villians album, which is said to feature Foo Fighter’s Dave Grohl and ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons.
