Rolling into the new year, artists are beginning to hint towards some of their plans for the upcoming months. With recent music releases from some of our favorite artists including Mumford & Sons, The 1975, and Weezer, 2019 looks like it will be an exciting year for music lovers.
Laying out the schedule for some of these events, music festivals all across the world have started to announce who they will be welcoming to their stages. In Europe, the summer months are especially popular for music festivals. Traveling across the pond in August for Reading & Leeds and Sziget Festival is both Twenty One Pilots and Foo Fighters. Other headliners that have been announced for Reading & Leeds in the UK include Pale Waves, Bastille, and Post Malone. Sziget Festival in Budapest, Hungary will be hosting performances from Florence + The Machine, Ed Sheeran, and Chvrches.
Taking the lead for American festivals to share their schedules, Shaky Knees in Atlanta, Georgia has given insight on who will be performing. Taking place in early May 2019, Shaky Knees headliners include Cage The Elephant, Tame Impala, Gary Clark Jr., and Grouplove. While music festivals in the US have not been as vocal about their lineups, South by Southwest (SXSW) has recently announced their second wave of artists for SXSW 2019. Spanning across the entire city of Austin, SXSW is a week full of music, film, and interactive festivities. Along with nearly 205 new performing artists added to the schedule, SXSW will also be hosting keynote speakers such as Lauren Mayberry from Chvrches.
Looking at the new and upcoming music releases from some of the most influential artists in the industry, the new year should be off to a great start. And remember, Austin City Limits Radio will be hosting our annual Live Morning Broadcast show during SXSW so be sure to stay updated with who we will be having with us!
