In honor of David Bowie’s upcoming 75th birthday (January 8, 1947), Spoon covered “I Can’t Give Everything Away.” It’s a track off Bowie’s final album Blackstar, which was released in 2016.
The Austin-based group recorded the song in December 2021, however frontman Britt Daniel and bandmate Alex Fischel learned the track for an acoustic and piano show in 2016. “It’s just a fantastic song, and as the last song on Bowie’s final album it doesn’t disappoint,” said Daniel.
The cover was released exclusively on Amazon Music for their [RE]DISCOVER campaign, which named Bowie Artist of the Month. The cover will be available to stream the entire month of January, along with multiple curated playlists highlighting Bowie’s career.
