It’s time to start cracking this case, who’s going to be on the 2024 Austin City Limits Music Festival Lineup?
An Austin staple bringing a huge set of artists to town every year is back (AGAIN) and we can’t wait to see the lineup! But who’s on it? We’ll do some digging and bring you some of our best predictions – maybe a little hopeful wishing too. We also know some of the artists that will NOT be showing up at our prized Zilker Park this October.
Given the festival’s history of booking both established and up-and-coming acts, it’s likely that the 2024 lineup will include a mix of genres and artists from various stages of their careers. Historically the fest brings in a known act from a few of the biggest genres, Rock, Hip-Hop, Pop, Folk/Country, and Electronic.
Some potential contenders for the Rock slot are Smashing Pumpkins, blink-182, Pearl Jam, The Killers (W2 Maybe), Metallica, Dave Matthews Band and Sublime. Pearl Jamreleased a great new album this year and blink-182 have been on a roll – both strong contenders for the 2024 lineup.
ACL Fest love their Folk and Country acts like fest-staples Mumford & Sons or Kacey Musgraves. This year we think some good contenders are Sturgill Simpson, Zach Bryan, Lainey Wilson (Weekend 2 only), Brandi Carlisle, Chris Stapleton (always a contender) and/or Hootie & the Blowfish. Strong possibility we see locals Briscoe.
One of our strong guesses is Khruangbin and we’ve got some good evidence. They’re Houston natives with no Austin tour dates on their latest album tour with open weekends for ACL Fest. We’re hoping Leon Bridges will also make it and unite with his collaborators for a Texas Sun setlist. Pretty Lights and Briscoe are both strong contenders for the lineup!
As far as the big pop acts, there’s a large range of possibility! Some possibilities are Dominic Fike, Laufey, Sabrina Carpenter, Fletcher, Ed Sheeran, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Meghan Trainor, Norah Jones, Chappell Roan, St. Vincent and Porter Robinson. Other acts outside of just Pop that might fill this role are Post Malone, Gwen Stefani, Pitbull, Avril Lavigne, Stevie Nicks, My Morning Jacket, Commodores, Queens of the Stone Age and/or Stars. We can hope and pray for Lana Del Rey.
A few other rumored acts include Teddy Swims, Orville Peck, Still Woozy, The War on Drugs and many more.
The Hip-Hop or Rap role has become an essential draw for ACL Fest like their Kendrick Lamar headline in 2023. Some contenders include T-Pain, Killer Mike, Sexyy Red, Schoolboy Q, Childish Gambino and (BIG) maybe Tyler, The Creator. We could also get a popular R&B act like Tyla or Victoria Monet.
Artists that will not be on the ACL Fest lineup include: No Doubt, Blue October, Aerosmith, Billie Eilish, The Balck Keys, Bleachers, Cage The Elephant, The Flaming Lips, Creed, Cypress Hill, Green Day, Imagine Dragons, Greta Van Fleet, Jelly Roll, Kid Cudi, Fred Again, Mitski, Peso Pluma, Modest Mouse, Pixies, Pusha T, Sum 41, Tate McRae, Tiësto, Troye Sivan, Usher, Weezer, Willie Nelson, and many more.
