Unreleased Songs from Jason Isbell Surface for “Sirens of the Ditch” Reboot

Jason Isbell

Four-time Grammy winner Jason Isbell will be releasing a “deluxe edition” of his 2007 hit debut solo album “Sirens of the Ditch.” Released during a tumultuous time in his personal and professional life – during which he struggled with substance abuse and his split from long-time band Drive-By Truckers – the album represents another time in the now-happily married and well-established artist’s life.

The original album was well-received by audiences when it was released, for its surprising and seamless amalgamation of classic soulful rock sounds with Isbell’s poetic prose and southern raspy drawl. The deluxe version, set to be released July 13, includes four previously unreleased tracks – “Racetrack Romeo,” “Crystal Clear,” and two more you can hear below. “The Assassin” is a song you may recognize, since Isbell has performed it live in concert with his band the 400 Unit before, and “Whisper” is a slow, bluesy tune in which Isbell sings of a heartbreak and its painful aftermath.

“Sirens of the Ditch” deluxe version comes out July 13 on New West.
