The song comes as the fourth single from the pop artist’s upcoming second album. The album, Happier Than Ever, is set to be released on July 30. Production for the album was done exclusively by Eilish and her brother Finneas.
Fans welcomed the video and single with open arms and celebration, along with speculation. While Eilish has not commented on her own sexuality, her fans within the LGBTQ+ community have claimed her as an icon. On her Instagram post announcing the video release, one commenter stated, “Fact after watching this : I’M GAYEST.” Comments like these point toward the nature of the video as their source of inspiration.
The release of Happier Than Ever comes with massive anticipation after the success of Billie Eilish’s debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?. The album garnered Eilish the Album of the Year award at the Grammys, as well as many others.
Eilish will be headlining this year’s Austin City Limits Music Festival at Zilker Park. She is set to perform on Saturday October 2 and 9 along with headliner Rüfüs Du Sol. Tickets are currently sold out, but can be purchased through official resale.
