Jimmy Eat World “The Middle” [SXSW 2017]
Jimmy Eat World were the final act to join Austin City Limits Radio on the first day of the Live Morning Broadcast during SXSW in 2017. The band threw it back to one of their classics “The Middle,” which was released in 2001 and featured in their fourth studio album Bleed American.
Over the past week, there have been anti-police brutality and Black Lives Matter protests occurring nationwide. Jimmy Eat World used their platform to share information on finding ways to “be a part of the solution and not part of the problem.”
The group also participated in the Blackout Tuesday Movement on social media, which was a day to disconnect from work, and provide essential information on where to donate, find resources and support the black community. Those who joined in on the movement shared a blank black image on their feeds.
Additionally, the band was set to go on a UK tour for the summer, but announced a postponement due to coronavirus.
The Black Angels “Entrance Song” [LIVE ACL 2017]
The Black Angels joined Austin City Limits Radio at Threadgill’s in the morning during ACL Fest in 2017. Check out their performance of Entrance Song” off their 2010 album Phosphene Dream.
The Austin band, who named themselves after a Velvet Underground song, “The Black Angel’s Death,” dropped their last album in 2017 called Death Song. Just last month the group’s frontman Alex Maas did a live stream with ACL Live, benefiting HAAM.
The Black Angels also donated net proceeds from their merch to Direct Relief’s Coronavirus Response Fund. The band urged fans to help raise money and “beat this thing.”
Atlas Genius “Trojans” [LIVE Music Lounge 2013]
A classic bop you can never really go wrong with. Atlas Genius performed a special music lounge with Austin City Limits Radio in 2013. With lounges usually held in the Dell Music Lounge, we changed things up a bit with the group; giving guests a memorable performance at Antone’s. The Australian brothers were set to perform at Bottlerock Napa Valley in May, but that has been rescheduled for the fall due to coronavirus concerns.
The duo planned to perform at Wonderstruck in Cleveland this month, however that has been moved to September. The band took to social media to show their support to the Blackout Tuesday movement.
Heartless Bastards “Journey” [LIVE SXSW 2015]

Throughout quarantine, the Ohio band has found ways to stay connected with fans with the help of social media. Frontwoman Eric Wennerstrom did a Facebook and Instagram Live back in April, asking fans for song requests. Wennerstrom was planning on going on tour for her solo project, but that all changed due to the pandemic. Aside from live streams, the frontwoman has shared a few videos on Instagram, where she’s seen performing some tracks from home. Wnnerstrom also created a Patreon for the band, which is a platform that gets artists and creators paid. On there, fans can enjoy monthly live streams and interviews with special guests. Her most recent IGTV is a performance of a new song called “You Never Know.” Check it out below. The group has also shown their support toward the anti-police brutality and Black Lives Matter protests.
Dawes “Just Beneath the Surface” [LIVE ACL 2013]

Throughout quarantine, the group has actively been sharing music content on social media. Singer Taylor Goldsmith and his wife, actress and singer Mandy Moore, have performed on Instagram Live frequently during this time of social distancing. Check out the clip below.
